The Purpose of The Commission

To ensure the quality and integrity of member institutions and their programs through a formal, systematic review of their operations, resources, processes, and outcomes, NAAE accreditation places great emphasis on the formation of the ethical human person through academic excellence, robust scholarship, and the independent and free pursuit of truth. These guiding principles form the basis for the review and determination of compliance with the NAAE standards and criteria. It is the responsibility of the Commission, which includes both public members and institutional members, in applying the written standards and exercising judgement, to arrive at fair, consistent and timely decisions that honor the interests of the academy, its students and the public.

Guy Bell, Commissioner

Guy Bell is the owner and strategic consultant at GPB Consulting. He has served as a leader, consultant, and strategic advisor for more than 20 years to leadership in educational initiatives, business restructuring, and strategic acquisitions. His clients are based in Kansas, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, California, and Washington.

Mr. Bell has served as President of Concorde Career Colleges. He has also advised non-profit entities regarding restructuring and supported multiple acquisitions in various sectors such as the building trades, information technology, and healthcare. Mr. Bell has earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Leadership from Antioch University in Seattle, WA. He currently resides in Kansas City, KS.

Tom Davisson, Commissioner

Tom Davisson is the retired Senior Vice President at Sullivan University System in Louisville, Kentucky. He began his career as a member of the State of Ohio’s Governor’s Task Force. He spent 13 years at DeVry Institute of Technology, serving in various roles including Associate Dean of Students, Dean of Students, Acting President, and President of the Lombard campus. Following this, he was National Director of Marketing at Catherine College in Illinois before dedicating the last 22 years to Sullivan University System.

Mr. Davisson has served on and chaired visiting accreditation committees for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC) for more than two decades.

He earned a Master of Science in Management & Human Resource Development from Louis National University and was honored with an Honorary Master of Public Service from the University of Rio Grande. Mr. Davisson currently resides in Louisville, KY.

George Pry, Commissioner

George Pry was the Executive Vice President at Pittsburgh Technical College in Oakdale, PA. He has served as a higher education administrator and leader for more than 40 years across Pennsylvania, Illinois, Arizona, Washington, and Texas. His expertise in institutional accreditation, facilities development, and educational management includes serving as a Commissioner for the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, Chair of the Pennsylvania State Board of Private Licensed Schools, and an Executive Committee member of the National Postsecondary Education Cooperative.

Mr. Pry has published and presented on higher education effectiveness and accreditation at national events, including the U.S. Department of Education’s National Symposium on Student Success and the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity. He holds a Master of Arts in Clinical/Community Psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. In 2010, he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Arts from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He currently resides in Pittsburgh, PA.
